Morning departure for Cypress Grove Temple. En route, visit the Yunju Si at Zhoukoudian, site of ancient inscriptions of the Buddhist canon into stone records. Visit Linji (Rinzai)’s dharma seat and temple at Zhengding. Evening arrival at Cypress Grove monastery.

Zen study and practice at Zhaozhou (Joshu’s) Cypress Grove monastery with the abbot Ming Hai (Clear Sea): talks, meditation, Chinese tea, the Wu (Mu) koan.

Cypress Grove Monastery practice. Visit to Zhaozhou’s bridge.

Continued practice at Cypress Grove Monastery. Coach departure for Zhengzhou City in afternoon.

Depart Zhengzhou to Shaolin Temple and Bodhidarma’s Cave and Stupa. To Luoyang with stop at Longmen Buddhist Grottoes. Evening arrival at Luoyang Hotel.

Visit to White Horse Temple, site where Buddhism arrived in China. Travel to Xian City.
